GEORGE MACBETH introduces TED HUGHES reading and talking about some of the poems in his Crow sequence, and new verse by JENI COUZYN , CHRISTO PHER HAMPTON , LAURENCE LERNER , PETER REDGROVE , KEN SMITH , DON THOMAS , and GERRY WELLS
New poetry read by the authors themselves, in studio conditions, offers perhaps a unique opportunity to come to terms with the process of feeling engaged in imaginative writing. The poet's own controlled rhythm and inflections, together with his commentary, as in what Ted Hughes has to say about his Crow poems, provides material for a response more vivid than one makes to the printed page, and perhaps more subtle than to a reading from a public platform. Even when the impression left' is tantalisingly incomplete, it may stimulate towards fresh thought and reading.
THE HENRY LOWTHER BAND
