This new play by one of Britain's leading playwrights was specially written for radio as a companion piece to Ionesco's L'lmpromptu de l'Alma (broadcast last Friday). In it John Arden. in the form of a dream. gives a highly personal view of the problems of an English playwright of his generation.

Born in Brussels in 1903. originally a musician, later a poet and collagist, organiser of international exhibitions. editor of an avant-garde magazine, friend of many revolutionary artists, Mesens settled in London just before the war.
