In 1883 the National Union of the Working Classes held an illegal meeting at Cold Bath Fields to protest against the restricted franchise. However, some Union members were also taking the opportunity to challenge the power of the newly formed Metropolitan Police Force.
This play, which is based on fact. tells the story of a young constable caught up in the riot that erupted when the police tried to disperse the crowd.
