Reputation of a Princess Princess Irina Youssoupoff v MGM
Written and compiled by JOHN THEOCHARIS
Narrator Peter Baldwin with When the MGM film Rasputin and the Empress was released in 1932, it was received with enthusiasm. Shortly afterwards, however, the exiled Princess Youssoupoff, niece of the last Tsar, sued mgm, maintaining that her chastity was besmirched. The trial in London turned into a duel between two of the most famous advocates of the day, and its centre-piece was an account by the plaintiff's husband of the murder of Rasputin.
