Andrew Duncan meets Jack Dee: page 8

[Photo caption] Comedy's Mr Grumpy takes a wry look back at the week's events in his series Jack Dee's Happy Hour

Comedy: Jack Dee's Happy Hour 10.15pm BBC1
"It's not happy and it's not an hour," says the grumpy host of this new topical comedy series. "But I like the title and it's my show." Jack Dee is set to nit-pick his way through the week's news and display his irritation over key issues. It is a showcase for the lugubrious comic's stand-up act, majoring on his fruitless pursuit of happiness. He will be trying his hand at various hobbies to see if they bring him contentment or simply fill in time. There is a possible cause of Jack Dee's miserable outlook in the programme itself, in the form of optimistic virtual comic, Jed Cake. They are not the only embattled spirits in a show that looks set to pile agony on the host and laughter on the audience. GE
