The first of four programmes featuring the work of an elite police squad in the Bristol and West Country region. With up to 1,800 cars being stolen each month, high-speed chases causing damage and death, and teenagers making £1,000 weekly through wheel and tyre theft, the police were forced to admit to a situation out of control. They launched "Operation Impact" which saw the law fight back in what had become the car crime capital of Britain.
The documentary series which reconstructs real-life tales of individuals in peril.
Tonight the story of fighter pilot Tim Ellison, who suffered horrendous injuries when his Harrier jump jet fell out of the sky while hovering at 100 feet. The programme recalls the bravery of the rescuers who raced to save his life, and Ellison's own struggle to defy the doctors who said he would never fly again.
