In October 1956, Britain, France and Israel launched a combined attack to retake the Suez Canal which had been seized by the Egyptian leader, Colonel Nasser, three months earlier. But this military action was ill-advised, and provoked hostile world opinion. Tonight's 40th anniversary programme draws on new material discovered in the international archives to reveal the full story of Britain's collusion with Israel.

Eddie Wilson, the leader of a successful rock band, disappeared in 1964 in a freak accident when his car went off a bridge. Years later, the surviving members of the band find themselves involved in a mystery when TV reporter Maggie Foley re-examines Eddie's disappearance and begins a search for the missing mastertapes of the band's unreleased second album.
