'Sing unto the Lord a new song and shout for joy.' The psalmist's call has inspired many hundreds of Songs of Praise viewers over the past year to write new hymns and songs. Tonight, in the splendid setting of All Souls' Church, Langham Place in London, the winning eight new hymns receive their first hearing. Roger Royle meets the winners and introduces Sarah Cox, BBC Choirgirl of the Year. The award bells, specially cast for the occasion, are presented by Bill Cotton, Managing Director of BBC Television.
