Over 100,000 children from all over the country join the volunteers of St John for this special day. Eric Robson describes the ceremony, after which

Duchess of Gloucester tour the party and meet some of the people present. Live messages come by satellite from the St John Ophthalmic Hospital in Jerusalem.

Sarah Kennedy and Phillip Schofield introduce the highlights of today's events in Hyde Park, London, where HM The Queen opened the world's largest children's party.
Eric Robson describes the day's events, which include a live link-up with the St John Ophthalmic Hospital in Jerusalem, as well as all the carnival fun in the park with such bizarre items as the world's longest sausage - over seven miles long! The day ends with the children joining the volunteers of St John Ambulance and celebrities who support the Brigade for a grand finale sing-along.
