Far from protecting children, the law was widely described as a 'molesters charter' - 95 per cent of cases never get to court and those that do present a horrific ordeal for the child involved.
Tonight Esther Rantzen looks at exciting new initiatives which will give children a fairer deal within the legal process, and at 'ChildLine', the national helpline for children in trouble or danger launched on Childwatch last year.
