The Best of the 1984 Los Angeles Games
After all the arguments about security and finance, the Los Angeles Olympic
Games proved one of the most successful ever. The eastern bloc boycott was largely forgotten in the celebrations which followed another feast of athletic achievement, recalled in this special programme of highlights.
Among them, Carl Lewis 's four gold medals in track and field, and the successful defence of their Olympic titles by Sebastian Coe and Daley Thompson. Gold was won for Britain, too, by Tessa Sanderson in the javelin, by shooting's
Malcolm Cooper and by our coxed four on Lake Casitas.
