The Price of Victory
•Fortress Falklands' is now Government policy - and an expensive one. Guarding the islanders costs well over a million pounds a day. How much it will take to build them a new way of life is still impossible to assess. Fred Emery has been to the Falklands to talk to the islanders about their future. His report records their optimism and uncertainty, and with evidence obtained there and in Whitehall, it examines what the real chances are of a viable life without links to the South American mainland.
