Down into the underworld of the 'Bulldog' - not the canine variety but an insect no bigger than half a matchstick - one of Australia's 4,000 species of ants!

Just below ground surface, scientist Bob Taylor discovers creatures of elegance and grace whose egg-laying is mysteriously beautiful and their after-care for young ingeniously efficient; yet, when the subterranean colony is invaded, the 'Bulldog' becomes a formidable adversary.
