After last weekend's two-man event, the crews now double up and with the increased weight, the bobs go faster. The East Germans are expected to regain their world title.
Commentator Tony Gubba, who writes: The sight of a four-man bob flipped on its back like a tortoise, steel underbelly to the sky, crashing at 60-70mph inside a giant ice rut, can chill the blood of brave men. But even worse for the next crew waiting at the top is the delay while damage to the bob run is repaired. Where was the crash? How did it happen? Are the crew okay? The answers have rarely filtered up the mountain before it's time to go - an explosive push start, then sit tight and hold on. Try not to think of that other crew crashing in a jumble of arms and legs. It takes nerves of steel even to ride a bob sled, let alone chase world championship medals. The bob run at St Moritz is a natural track cut fresh from the ice each year. Always challenging, always differently dangerous.
