Omnibus presents its alternative Shakespeare: this spirited and hilarious open-air production of The Taming of the Shrew takes place in New York's Central Park. For 22 years the park has been the setting for free theatre performances masterminded by Joseph Papp. His actors are among the best in America, many of them destined for stardom: MERYL STREEP , who plays Kate, was recently nominated for an Oscar for her performance in The Deer Hunter. In this documentary, the arguments and intrigues of the play spill out delightfully into the dressing rooms and even into the audience at the interval.
Directed by WILFORD LEACH
