Activity holidays - in the sense of exploring and travelling, that is-seem to be wooing people away from the completely relaxed, sun-soaking pattern of past years.
Holiday this week stays on the move and samples two holidays which require a certain amount of energy as well as a willingness to move on. John Carter journeys aboard the Regina Prima on a Mediterranean cruise, calling at half-a-dozen ports in as many days. Is this style of sea-going really cruising, or is it just' bus-stop sailing' as its critics claim?
Fyfe Robertson spends a week touring the Republic of Southern Ireland, sampling an haute cuisine holiday in stylish country houses. The pace is not too hectic, though, and there's time enough to appreciate the particular gastronomic joys of each new location.
Travel experts in the studio add their information to the film reports, and Norma Shepherd occupies our consumer desk.
