Narrated by Bernard Cribbins
Little Grey Rabbit, Fuzzypeg, Hare and Sam Pig are some of the best-loved characters in children's stories. They were created by Alison Uttley who died last May at the age of 91. A few months earlier she was filmed for this programme. She talked of her country childhood in Derbyshire - she remembered seeing hares dance, watching her mother make cowslip wine and taking her frightening walk through the woods to school. She was visited by some children who had drawn their own pictures of her characters and she looked back on a country Christmas before the turn of the century.
