Cousteau's research vessel Calypso goes on another voyage of adventure and scientific discovery.

Lords of the airspace at Isla Isabela are the magnificent frigate birds; Cousteau calls them 'the flying tax collectors - the instruments of natural selection.' Awesome in slow motion flight, these aerial buccaneers dominate the community of thousands of birds on this miniature Mexican island.

Captain Cousteau leads his diving team into the tumult of a feeding frenzy as sea birds dive-bomb the fish for food.

The BBC1 Documentary

Tonight Ballet Rambert celebrates its 50th anniversary.

Marie Rambert arrived in London in 1914 from Paris where she had been working with the Diaghilev Ballet helping Nijinsky to create The Rite of Spring. In 1918 she married the playwright Ashley Dukes.

One evening in 1926, Ashley Dukes suggested an idea for a ballet; a suggestion that was to become a reality in the revue Riverside Nights on 15 June, 1926. Dame Marie Rambert says 'I could not do choreography myself, but at that time I had a young pupil....' 'She somehow pitch-forked me into it,' remembers Sir Frederick Ashton. 'At that time neither of us thought we were starting a whole era of British ballet.'

Ballet Rambert, once a family venture, now a national company, has survived these 50 years because of Dame Marie's eye for creative talent. The choreographers that she has nurtured have provided her Company with its lifeline - one new wave following on another-from Frederick Ashton in the 20s to Christopher Bruce at the present time.

Dame Marie Rambert introduces Sir Frederick Ashton, Christopher Bruce, John Chesworth, Sally Gilmour, Maude Lloyd, Dame Alicia Markova, Norman Morrice, Glen Tetley and The Ballet Rambert in rehearsal, and in performance at The Arts Centre, Warwick University; Wyvern Theatre, Swindon; Jeannetta Cochrane Theatre, WC1; also in extracts from Facade 1931; Foyer de Danse 1932; Dark Elegies 1937; Death and the Maiden 1937; Lady into Fox 1939; Two Brothers 1958; La Sulphide 1960; Pierrot Lunaire 1966; 'H' 1968; Blind-sight 1969.
