A Portrait of the Heavyweight Champion of the World
Introduced by Harry Carpenter
Next Monday, Joe Frazier defends his World Heavyweight Championship against George Foreman, in the most critical big fight since the classic Frazier-Muhammad Ali showdown nearly two years ago. BBC1 is covering the fight, which takes place in Jamaica.
Frazier, son of an impoverished turnip farmer, slugged his way from a Philadelphia slaughterhouse, where he once worked, to become an Olympic Gold medallist. From there he battled on to his present position as the world's number one fighter - the only man to tame the great Muhammad Ali.
Tonight's film tells the fascinating story of the Heavyweight Champion.
