All this week Alex Glasgow will sing songs and tell stories from the North-East of England
Today's story: 'The Lambton Worm' is about a terrible dragon and there's an old Northumbrian song about it.

Whist! lads, hold your gobs,
An' Aa'll tell ye all an awful story,
Whist! lads, hold your gobs,
An' Aa'll tell ye 'bout the worm,
He'd great big teeth, a great big gob,
An' great big goggle eyes...

Those plumed crackshots of the Italian army, the Bersaglieri, execute gymnastic leaps while at the same time playing martial airs - as another squad of their comrades jump through blazing hoops to the rhythm of those same airs. Just one of the items in this first of two visits to the annual military spectacular at Earls Court. Also on parade: Canada's Mounties, riding musically and faultlessly; the Royal Navy, striving traditionally to haul field-guns across a chasm; the massed bands of the Royal Armoured Corps and, on the bandstand, the Midland Band of the Royal Air Force.
A television outside broadcast presented by John Vernon

"What sort of a life will I have if I stay in Newtown? Wrapping sweets at Brownley's eight hours a day... listening to Radio 1... marry some yob and get a council house if I'm dead lucky... half a dozen kids in half a dozen years... D'yer call that living?"

Is Stead over the hill, about to die? Can Thornton really be sacked? Can Stewart survive in Mogul after his recent disasters? Will Izard retire when Stead goes?
The future of just about everybody is in jeopardy in this, the final episode of the current series.
The theme of the story is the eternal conflict between youth and age. All the doubts and fears, hopes and anxieties are exposed as Stead's life hangs in the balance, and with it his dream of a great future for Mogul International.
This week there are no guest stars, only a number of brilliant supporting roles. This week the regular stars of Mogul dominate the screen, bringing to a climax their efforts, achievements, and adventures during the series.

Meteors and meteorites travel around space in their millions. A few reach the earth but most are burnt up in our atmosphere. Astronauts in space suits, moon bases and manned satellites will be unprotected by the atmosphere.
Patrick Moore talks about meteors, and the danger they may pose to future astronauts and their equipment with Dr. N. H. Langton, a physicist who has studied this problem.
