A film series based on stories from the American past.
Starring Lee Marvin

The Harvest of 1907 was a good one in California's San Joaquin Valley and the farmers expected a good profit. But when the crop was delivered to the railroad they found that the profit was absorbed by an increase in freight rates. Determined not to be cheated they decided to deliver the crop themselves to the San Francisco market 175 miles away. Six wagons faced not only the usual bad roads and treacherous weather but the opposition of the railroad.

A new film series about human behaviour by Hans Hass.
For the last four years Hans Hass has been travelling all over the world compiling a unique film record of the way people behave. In this series he analyses by special film techniques our various characteristics - the human smile, the human face, human curiosity, our thirst for power, our regard for order.

How do we human beings differ from all the other living beings? Why do we behave as we do?
Presented in collaboration with the South German and the Austrian Television Services
