In their recent book, The Three Faces of Eve, Drs. Thigpen and Cleckley have described a case of multiple personality even more remarkable than that ot Morton Prince's celebrated Sally Beauchamp. The speaker, who is a psychologist and an anthropologist, contrasts this case, and the handling of it, with the phenomena of 'possession' by alien spirits which are commonly found among primitive peoples, and which are treated professionally by their shamans or witch-doctors.
