The legislation of 1953 and 1954 relating to the education of Africans in South Africa has been among the most controversial in the apartheid policy, both within the Union and abroad. In this programme a brief summary of the provisions of the Act is given, followed by two different views. The first speaker, Leo Marquard, is President of the South African Institute of Race Relations; the second, C. W. Prinsloo, is Chief Information Officer of the Department of Native Affairs.
