by V. B. Wigglesworth F.R.S. ,
Quick Professor of Biology
In the University of Cambridge
In this talk (based on a lecture given by Professor Wigglesworth at the Jubilee Conference of the Association of Applied Biologists) the speaker argues that the application of science to human needs calls for qualities in the investigator different from, but not inferior to, those required for research in pure science. Also, he suggests that to ensure the continued production of useful applications, pure science must be free to develop without restriction.
