Broadcast readings by the winner and runner-up in the finals of the solo classes
This Festival, founded by John Masefield , was originally held in Oxford; since the war it has been held in London. The 1952 Festival (in association with the Arts Council of Great Britain) took place recently at the Royal Academy of Music. In this programme listeners will hear readings by the winner and runner-up in the finals of the solo classes, which included lyric, narrative, and dramatic poetry of the last four centuries, and contemporary verse.
