Talk by Patrick Kavanagh
The speaker, himself an Irishman, claims that the only Irish writers who show any authentic quality are those who are true to themselves and do not regard ' Irishness as a commodity to be exported to England. Amongst these he rates highly William Carleton , the nineteenth-century Irish novelist, author of ' Traits and Stories of the Irish Peasantry.'
