A commentary on the Senior International Auto-Cycle
Tourist Trophy Race from the Isle of Man
At the Grandstand, Graham Walker and Victor Smythe
At Creg-na-Baa, Clive Tutt
At Ballacraine, George A. Allan
At Ramsey Hairpin, Richard North
On Monday was broadcast a commentary on the junior events in this year's International Auto-Cycle T'mrist Trophy Races. On Wednesday listeners heard a commentary on the light weight event. Today the commentary will be given on the most important event of all-the Senior T.T. Race, which is the Derby of the motor-cycling world.
The course is the usual 37 miles, with steep hills and hairpin bends, and is negotiated no fewer than seven times-264 miles in all. A breathless race ; the start in front of the stands on Bray Hill. The swift descent to Quarter Bridge, and on to Glen Helen , then comes Ramsey, where the riders dash through the narrow streets of houses ; and tKe road to Snaefell, past the Ramsey Hairpin where the spectators are massed for the thrill of the turn ; and on up the mountain road to the bungalow.... all will be described.
There will be four O.B. points: the Grandstand (commentators Graham Walker and Victor Smythe ); Creg-na-Baa (Clive Tutt ) ; Ballacraine (George A. Allan ) ; and Ramsey Hairpin (Richard North).
Tonight at 9.15 there will be a broadcast of the presentation of the trophies on the Northern wavelength.

An Overture inspired by War
Georges Bizet had written operas, including La Jolie Fille de Perth, before the war of 1870, but at that date he was little known and success had not come to him. This overture to Sardou's Patrie (Fatherland) was admittedly inspired by the sufferings of his country during its terrible ordeal in the Franco-German war, and in power and originality it exceeded anything that he had composed hitherto.
A Popular Symphony
Glazunov's Symphony No. 6, in C minor, which was written in 1896, is probably the most popular in Britain of the composer's eight symphonies. Writing on this work in the RADIO TIMES, Edwin Evans summed it up as follows: 'It differs from the others in that its two middle sections, charming as they are, seem too slight, too fragile, to be enclosed in so massive a frame as that formed by the two outside movements.
The place of the Andante is taken by the short set of not very elaborate variations, that of the Scherzo by an Intermezzo which is almost ingenuous. The opening Allegro is a fine edifice of symphonic architecture and the Finale is a highly ingenious feat of rhythmical development.'
