A commentary during play by Howard Marshall from Trent Bridge, Nottingham
By now listeners will have got used to the idea of this year's innovation of giving Test Match broadcasts at fixed intervals throughout the day's play. instead of programmes being broken into at various and unexpected times, as has been the practice hitherto.
There will have been an hour and a-half's play before this-the first of today's commentaries-is given. This initial broadcast of the day is planned to give listeners whose luncheon hour falls between 12 and I p.m. a chanee to hear something of the play. The next broadcast will give similar facilities to those whose luncheon hour falls between I and 2. Six broadcasts at fixed periods are being given each day, roughly one every hour.
Howard Marshall is giving all the commentaries, but he will bring various people to the microphone from time to time, to give their impressions of the progress of play.
