Although Roger Coke is only twenty-six, he has already written nearly forty works. His Second Symphony, dedicated to Rachmaninoff, is to be produced by Eugene Goossens at Cincinnati shortly.
This concerto, composed last autumn, is a frankly romantic work. ' If one looks for a spiritual forbear ', writes the composer, ' one is reminded of Rachmaninoff's First ; this, however, does not mean that the concerto is at all like anyone else's, or at all conservative or unadventurous in its idiom or procedure.' It is dedicated to
Charles Lynch.

A dramatic reconstruction of a famous mystery, based on the authentic records introduced by Lt.-Commander
Rupert T. Gould
Production by John Richmond
The story of the Borden murders was first broadcast as the third of the ' Three Famous Mysteries ' series heard earlier in the year.
On August 4, 1892, an elderly
Massachusetts couple, Andrew Bor den and his wife, were found with their heads split open by hatchet blows in a house which contained nobody but their Irish servant and their daughter. The authorities had to investigate an apparently motiveless crime, and as the result of their investigations suspicion eventually fell on Lizzie, the Bordens' daughter.
She was, however, a church worker, and a woman of such unimpeachable character that no conviction was possible.
