Thomas Woodrooffe is to give a commentary today during the first series of seven games between D. S. Milford, the holder (an amateur), and Alf Cooper (a professional), the challenger; and on Saturday he will give a commentary during the second series of seven games between them.
The championship was in abeyance for some years until Setzler challenged Milford in 1937 over fourteen games-seven to be played in New York, and seven in London. Milford won by seven games to four. Later Alf Cooper was matched with Setzler, and beat him fairly easily.
Cooper was the professional at
Queen's Club for a good many years, and went last year as professional to Eton. During his career he has won both the Professional and the Open Championships.

' Empire Migration'

The aim of this new series, talks in which will be given every Tuesday for some weeks to come, is to present, from the lips of authoritative speakers, surveys of some of the more important questions of the day. The questions selected will all be topical in character, though not necessarily of last-minute topicality. Empire migration, for example, has for some time been a ' question in the air ', owing to the steady decrease of migration from this country to the Empire during recent years. In 1913 over 280,000 emigrants left Britain to settle overseas, but between September, 1937, and September, 1938, only a tenth of that number left this country. George Gibson is a member of the Overseas Settlement Board.
