' A Prairie Parson and his
Problems'
The Rev. H. G. G. Herklots
From time to time talks are given in the Missionary series especially about the work among our own people overseas. The Rev. H. G. G. Herklots , who is to speak on 'A Prairie Parson and his Problems has recently become Rector of Flixton, near Manchester, after a considerable period of service in Canada.
He was Canon of St. John's
Cathedral, Winnipeg, and Professor of Exegetical Theology in St. John's College in that city. In the course of his work he visited and was in continual touch with the work of the Anglican Church throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. He is a lively speaker and writer, as those who have heard him or read his books such as 'Jack of All Trades ', ' Paper Aeroplanes ', and ' My First Winter ' will know.
Mr. Herklots was born in India, went to Trinity College, Cambridge, and was trained at Ridley Hall , before serving for three years as curate at Holy Trinity, Marylebone, and then going to Canada.

Prelude: a musical suggestion of the dragon into which the giant Fafner has changed himself to guard the treasure.
The scene shows the dragon's cave in the wood: meeting of Alberich and Wotan (the Wanderer) who warns him against his treacherous brother Mime, and Fafner against the hero who will come and kill him. Wotan goes; Siegfried and Mime appear.
Siegfried listens to the murmurs of the forest; presently he rises and fights and kills the dragon. Having accidentally tasted its blood, he can now understand the voices of the birds; the Wood-Bird warns him against Mime, and he goes into the cave to get the ring.
Alberich and Mime appear discussing the affair; exit Alberich as Siegfried reappears. Mime tries to beguile the hero with soft words, but in vain; Siegfried contemptuously kills him.
Finally the Wood-Bird is heard again, telling Siegfried of the sleeping beauty on the fire-girt rock.

An appeal on behalf of THE SUSSEX DIOCESAN ASSOCIATION
FOR THE DEAF AND DUMB by CHRISTOPHER STONE , D.S.O., M.C.
Tonight's appeal is on behalf of the four hundred deaf and dumb in Sussex, fifty of whom are also totally blind. The Sussex Diocesan Association for the Deaf and Dumb is the only agency in the county to promote their spiritual and social welfare. No State or Local Government aid is given for the deaf, and the Association is dependent on voluntary aid. Funds are urgently needed.
Contributions will be gratefully acknowledged, and should be addressed to [address removed]
