Songs sung by Charles Panzera (baritone)
Cesar Franck 's influence on French music was very considerable. He devoted most of his time to teaching and composing, and although it was not until the last year of his life that he received recognition as a composer, he had already gathered round him a number of the most gifted young musicians of the period. Among his most ardent disciples were D'Indy, Chausson, Duparc, Ropartz, and Lekeu, all of whose music, particularly in the early stages, show certain finger-prints of their master.
This series of recitals will be continued as follows: Tuesday (National 9.40), Wednesday (Regional
8.0), Thursday (National 6.40), and Saturday (National 10.0).

Day Continuation Schools
Howard Marshall and others
In the days immediately following the war an Act of Parliament was passed which envisaged the possibility of all youngsters between the ages of fourteen and sixteen who had left school being sent back, whether in or out of work, for at least two half-days a week. For one reason and another the general application of the scheme broke down, but it has continued to be compulsory in Rugby, and various employers elsewhere have adopted it voluntarily for their juniors.
Tonight supporters and a critic will discuss the scheme with Howard Marshall.
