Speeches on the occasion of the Luncheon to the INDIAN TOURING TEAM
The Chairman, the Right Hon. the Viscount HAILSHAM , the Lord Chancellor, will propose the health of the Guests, and the Captain of the Indian Cricket Team, the Maharaj KUMAR OF VIZIANAGRAM, will respond
From the Hotel Victoria
Last year the South African Touring
Team was given a luncheon by the Royal Empire Society ; those who listened to the broadcast on that occasion will remember that the chairman was Lord Athlone. This cricket luncheon is now becoming a traditional and happy prelude to the strenuous season that follows. Although the guests concerned this year, the Indian team, are unlikely to be as formidable as the Australians, rash prophets would do well to remember England's unexpected defeat last year by the South Africans.
There will be three Test Matches: the first at Lord's on June 27; the second at Manchester on July 25 ; and the final one at the Oval on August

Clement Attlee , M.P. for the Limehouse Division and Leader of the Labour Party, will give his views on the subject. Mr. Attlee is a member of the Fabian Society, and for many years has been a prominent speaker in the House. From 1922 to 1924 he was Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Leader of the Opposition and, amongst other posts, he has been Under-Secretary of State for War and Postmaster-General.
