T.E.G. Gregory, D.Sc. (Sir Ernest Cassel Professor of Banking in the University of London)
Last Wednesday Professor T.E.G. Gregory discussed Banking; this evening he is to pass on to Insurance and Investment. And he will show how the Insurance Companies are the largest holders of investments, and how taking out an insurance policy is, for the private individual, a type of investment.
He will discuss Lloyd's and investment trusts; national savings; the functions of the Stock Exchange.
This talk will pave the way to the last broadcast in this series, which will be given next Wednesday in the shape of a discussion on 'Should the banks be nationalised?'

WHEN the light from the sun is analysed, it is found that waves of certain lengths are missing. Laboratory experiments show that this light has gone through masses of vapour of various kinds, iron', sodium, and so on. These can only exist at a high temperature, which must be that of the sun. In this way we learn the composition of the sun, and in the same way of the stars. We can also discover their motions, distances, and other matters concerning them.
This is an outline of Sir William Bragg 's talk tonight.
