Mr. REGINALD ARKELL : 'Tea Trays and Toboggans'
Porhaps nobody but the author of ' Winter Sportings ', with his delightful wit and turn for humorous verse, would have thought of the title of this broadcast this evening. Toboggans..... That one understands. Switzerland : lager on ice : rinks, runs, luges, skis, land yodelling. St. Moritz the fashionable, Miirren where business is meant. But tea trays? To Reginald Arkell 's whimsical mind they signify the other end of the scale—the unsophisticated end. Little boys and girls with blue noses, sliding down snow-covered slopes to village greens on tea trays, the lid of a box or anything else they can lay their hands on. Listeners this evening are to hear a talk as light as thistledown, as gaily coloured as a bubble.
