EARL HAIG'S BRITISH LEGION REMEMBRANCE
DAY APPEAL BY
THE COUNTESS HAIG OF BEMERSYDE
Contributions will be gratefully received by [address removed].
THE' Remembrance Day ' Appeal is one of the most important and vital in the year; it represents the nation's effort to liquidate its debt to those who now suffer from having fought in the War. The money contributed principally goes to help ex-Servicemen who, through no fault of their own, are unemployed. The Legion also assists,, by treatment and training, tuberculous and other disabled men and, by an annual grant to St. Dunstan's, blinded men. The Legion was started by Lord Haig in 1921, when it produced £106,000 ; in each of the last three years over half a million pounds have been contributed.
