James Alec Simpkins is a West of England artist who showed early promise as a choir boy in a local church. He studied under Joseph Llewellyn, the Welsh singer, and later became a pupil of Gaetano Loria. He is well known on the concert platforms of the South and West of England.

The Rev. Dyfnallt Owen is a well-known writer on Welsh affairs, and received from the University of Wales an Honorary Welsh M.A. for his services to Welsh culture. In this talk he will contribute a psychological study of representative 'characters' in a typical Welsh village in the latter part of the last century.
