Said the mother of four-year-old twin girls, 'They particularly like to be asked questions by the wireless lady. They never fail to answer and really imagine she can hear their reply.'
And so, it seems, do the majority of our young listeners. Many of them, indeed, go further - 'Not long ago,' wrote the mother of a boy of four, 'he was very disappointed. Daddy disconnected our radio to clean the inside and when the back was removed, John fully expected to find you sitting inside!'
Occasionally, however, a difficulty appears - 'Where is the rest of the lady, Mumma?' asked a small girl. 'There's only room for her head in our wireless, isn't there?'
But wherever her location, 'the lady' will be there as usual this week in the persons of Catherine Edwards to introduce the programmes; Julia Lang (today and on Wednesday) to tell the stories of 'Grandpa's Birthday Present,' by Betty Starkey, and 'The Little Pond,' by Hazel Chew; Dorothy Smith (tomorrow and on Friday), with 'An Easter Picnic,' by Lilias Edwards, and 'Lambkin and the Butterfly,' by Joyce Glover; and Daphne Oxenford (on Thursday) with Mary Stonevale's 'Teddy and the Bumpy Bus.'
