A Night at the Music-Hall
"Let's all go to the Music-Hall, Where the show is gay and bright." Those opening lines of a song everyone knows sum up the atmosphere of the programme you can hear tonight. I shall have the pleasure of introducing, for the 82nd time, your chairman, Mr. William Scott-Coomber, whose entrance will, as usual, be greeted by the friendly boos, hisses, and catcalls of our audience in the Garrick Playhouse, Altrincham.
As well as presenting established artists we shall, in the coming weeks, also be giving first broadcasts to a number of up-and-coming performers. We trust, therefore, that when you settle down for the evening you'll take heed of the sentiments expressed in the last lines of that same song: "When the busy day is done, If you want to have some fun. Let's all go to the Music-Hall," and we hope you'll be in your red plush stall at five past eight for another rumbustious forty-five minutes.
