From St. Mary's, Warwick. Conducted by the Vicar, the Rev. Joseph McCulloch
Our fears are largely concerned wi'h the shape of things to come. Have we too much of the wrong kind of imagination? If o, is not the cure a matter of getting the right kind of imagination? In what way does the saint picture the world differently from the rest of sinners? Is it not that he sees more of the immediate world: he sees not only what everybody else sees, but also what is behind, and beyond, and within it. He has a sense not only -of being on the human stage, but also of the author's purpose in putting on the play, of how it must work out, and of his own and his neighbours' parts in it. In fact, his imagination sees life in depth, and not iut flat. Have we all got the faculty to do this, and, if so. how do we develop it? How does the attempt to be Christian open our eyes to a larger world than that which we see at present?
