CURRENT AFFAIRS II
Only a Name by John Harington More
The Harington family had already fallen from their former greatness by the time* of Queen Elizabeth's godson, Sir John Harington of Kelston. Today, their castles in ruins and the house of Kelston razed to the ground, all that remains to them in memory of the past is the name of their most famous ancestor.

The Industrial Revolution
Reconsidered by Asa Briggs
Professor of Modern History in the University of Leeds
Our modern, mechanised, urban society has its roots in the Industrial Revolution of the late eighteenth and the nineteenth centuries. In this series of six programmes Professor Briggs will be reviewing our ideas of the Industrial Revolution in the light of modern research and contemporary issues. In each broadcast he will introduce a specialist on some aspect of the subject.
1-The Idea of An Industrial Revolution
Professor Briggs discusses with D. C. Coleman , Lecturer in Industrial History in the London School of Economics, how the idea of an ' industrial revolution ' took shape; what economic and technical changes in England and later in other countries are covered by the term. Are we in the middle of a new 'industrial revolution ' today?
