Hoist's Japanese Suite was written in 1915 for the Japanese dancer, Michio Ito, who provided most of the themes. There are six linked movements: Prelude (Song of the Fisherman), Ceremonial Dance, Dance of the Marionette, Interlude, Dance under the Cherry Tree, and Dance of the Wolves. D. C.
