The Soldiers', Sailors' and Airmen's Families Association, founded in 1885, has 15,000 voluntary workers, and 1,500 branches throughout the United Kingdom and in many other countries overseas. Its object is to be of use to the families of serving and ex-Service men and women by giving advice on all personal problems; helping to solve family troubles at home for men serving overseas; granting temporary financial help for those in misfortune, whose needs are not met by the State; investigating cases and administering grants for other Service and Regimental Funds; providing an emergency home for children when mothers are ill; supplying clothing when it is really needed; and administering a nursing service for Forces' families in overseas Commands.

Episode 10
Produced by Wilfrid Grantham
at 3.30 Mr. Crawley, having resolved that it is his duty to resign his living immediately, has informed Dr. Tempest personally of his decision, and has communicated it to the Bishop by letter.
The Bishop, receiving the letter, has taken no action-and desires to take none. But Mrs. Proudie, acting over his head. has sent Mr. Thumble to Hogglestock to arrange to take over the parish duties as from the following Sunday.
Learning of this, after Mr. Thufnble's departure, the Bishop has been roused to great anger. He has declared to his wife that he will cancel her instructions and will brook no further interference from her.
Following this stormy scene, Mrs.
Proudie (who, unknown to anyone else, has lately been suffering from heart trouble) retires to her room to lie down. And when, in the evening, her maid goes to call her-Mr. Thumble having now returned from Hogglestock-she finds the mistress of the palace dead at her bedside.
