As a natural musician with a seemingly unending flow of ideas. Mozart's only rival among- the greatest composers in the history of music is Schubert. Unlike many of the great composers, Mozart was never at a loss for an idea, the working-out of whichfceame with the utmost ease. A large proportion of his work was completed in his htad before being put on paper.
The Symphony No. 40 in G minor shows the full flower of Mozart's genius. It is a work of matchless beauty both in form and content. Like most of his works, it was composed with extraordinary speed and unerring judgment-his three last and greatest symphonies were written in less than six weeks 1
