Fourth of a fortnightly series of romantic interludes. Sentimental songs sung and played by Aircraftman Harry Evans to the girls he and other members of the Forces left behind. Produced by Leslie Bridg mont
Harry Evans brings to these programmes the intimate touch and confidence of the old hand at broadcasting that he is. He first made his name by broadcasting with his band from the Grand Hotel, Torquay, where he played late night dance music, rhythm programmes, and also for cabaret shows. It was while rehearsing for a cabaret show that the idea of his famous Sextette Intime was bom. The brass and saxophones of his band not being suitable for a new number to be sung by Esther Coleman , Harry turned part of the band over to the strings. The result was so successful that he formed the Sextette.

including Alice and Rosie Lloyd , and Regan and Anne. From Collins's Music-Hall, Islington
At Collins's, in the old days, the gas-lamps outside shone on the proud notice : ' 18 Star Turns for Sixpence '. Inside, the audiences sat with ' mild and bitter in spouted pewter pots on their little tables ; the famous John Read was chairman, with his back to the stage and a mirror in front of him, always ready to step up and dazzle the audience with his large diamond stud as he sang in place of some artist who had not arrived. To help listeners recapture the atmosphere of those robust nights, Alice and Rosie Lloyd , sisters of Marie Lloyd , will sing songs typical of the great music-hall tradition.
Recordings taken today at the Opening of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, including talks by leading members, and reports of the widespread wartime work of the Church at home, in the Empire, and on the Continent
