5.20 ' Holidays at home'
To children of one Northern industrial town, staying at home this holiday-time has made no difference, as the Town Council decided that if the people could not go to the seaside, they would bring the seaside to them. Organised games, a model-yachting lake, a swimming pool, Punch and Judy, races, pierrot entertainments, and even the donkeys are to be found every day in one of the public parks. This afternoon, with Victor Smythe as guide, listeners will be able to join in some of the fun of holidays at home.

The drama latent in the person of the elderly judge is always full of possibilities. In the case of Sir James Rigg, known for years on the Bench as ' The Nerveless Judge', these are exploited to the full.
Sir James Rigg has completed a career of legal administration, and is spending the twilight of his life in writing his biography. It is into this serene twilight of a busy life that something more melodramatic even than the most sensational of Sir James's cases has cause to intrude. It would be unfair to disclose the circumstances by which ' The Nerveless Judge ' is thoroughly unnerved. These must be left to manifest themselves to the listener.
