Tchaikovsky
Although Tchaikovsky was not in sympathy with the ideals of the Russian nationalists, he became very friendly with Balakirev. During a visit to Moscow, Balakirev suggested to him that Shakespeare's Borneo and Juliet would be an ideal subject for symphonic treatment. Tchaikovsky was enthusiastic over the idea, and soon after his return home he began to work out the music. A lively correspondence ensued between the two composers, and Balakirev made many suggestions, including the various incidents in the drama to be treated and the keys to be adopted in the music.

This revue, specially written by Diana Morgan of Gate Theatre fame, was origina))y broadcast as a half-hour show at the beginning of March.
It has now been enlarged and extended to forty minutes and in its new form should again prove popular among those who enjoy the ' unkinder ' varieties of fun and like a judicious admixture of satire with their sentiment.
