' Away from home '
Safety and friendship for women and girls
An appeal by Admiral Mark Kerr ,
C.B., M.V.O.
This appeal is on behalf of the National Vigilance Association, with its branches in England and Scotland, the Travellers' Aid Society and the Central Council for the Welfare of Girls, which have for many years given advice and help to girls who come to town as strangers.
Those who serve these societies are always ready to act as friends to the girls they meet at railway and coach stations, or for a quiet talk at the Central Information Bureau. Temporary shelter or permanent lodgings are found and friendly advice given in all difficulties. In one year 7,000 girls received help in this way.
Contributions will be gratefully acknowledged, and should be addressed to [address removed]
