by John Morgan MP, followed by a talk on pigeons by Major W. H. Osman.
The broadcaster this week (after John Morgan has had his say) will be Major W.H. Osman, editor of The Racing Pigeon, founded by his father in 1878, and a lifelong breeder of winners, who will describe racing pigeons from the utility angle.
He has recently inaugurated a subscription to a special Spitfire fund on behalf of all pigeon-fanciers, and £200 has already been subscribed. Major Osman is Chairman of the Pigeon Section of the Red Cross Agricultural Fund, which is flying two races on September 14 - the one from Christchurch to lofts in the North and the other from Berwick-on-Tweed to lofts in the South.
Some short while ago Jack Joel, of horse-racing fame, gave Osman the produce of the racing pigeon hen winner (Logan strain) of the 1922 San Sebastian race, which he bought two years later, and Osman has sold them and raised thereby £81 for the Red Cross.
