One of the greatest modern virtuosos of the harpsichord is Wanda Landowska , who was born at Warsaw in 1877. She studied in her native city and later in Paris, where eventually she became a professor of the piano at the Schola Cantorum. Her interest, however, in old keyboard music led her to forsake the piano for the harpsichord. Since that time she has won fame all over Europe and the United States.

This is really another ' Confound the Experts' game with a special topical slant. Neil Munro has been reading all the works on A.R.P. that he can lay his hands on and he thinks he has got a few questions to which the experts may not immediately recognize the correct answers. A lot will depend on the phrasing of the questions.
He hopes to have in the studio, taking part in the game, an A.F.S. man, a nurse, an ex-Army doctor, an air-raid warden, and a policeman. The result should not only be good entertainment but a generous amount of instruction and many useful reminders to all listeners.

C. H. Middleton
The best-known gardener in this country is today to give his second talk on your garden in wartime, for a talk on gardening just now could hardly be a talk on anything else. Now is the time, without altogether sacrificing your flowers, to plan to transform part of your garden into land that may produce food for your family against a time when green-stuff and roots may be difficult to purchase. Because Middleton has a knack of telling listeners just what to do without theory or nonsense, his talks are listened to perhaps more widely than anybody else's.

1—'The Coming of Christianity' by Alec Macdonald
Produced by Geoffrey Dearmer
Church History, unless imaginatively treated, might not appeal to older children, but Alec Macdonald was well aware of the deadly danger of dullness when he wrote this series, which was originally broadcast during 1937, and he skilfully avoided it. Throughout the series a kindly and well-informed Rector tells his son, Michael, something about the history of the Christian Church, but neither of them expect the surprising adventures into the past which they experience.
In today's broadcast the Rector has found in the village churchyard what his little boy calls ' a dirty old bit of stone' with Saxon carving on it. In a dream he goes back in imagination more than a thousand years to the time when that stone was part of his village church.
The characters in the play include the Rector and his son Michael ; an old Counsellor ; a Chief Priest; Gregory ; Paulinus and King Edwin ; and the cast will be George Holloway , Michael Watson , Hedley Goodall , and Cyril Roberts.

Fifth instalment, read by Kevin Fitzgerald
' I will have to give trouble at once', the Professor announced gravely, ' I must have hot water, plenty of hot water, for I am now going to shave off my beard.' And with this great change in the Professor's life came changes in others', too, in the service of Mr. Hassock's ' show '.
Timmy Tiverton , the comedian who has been out of work for so long, has the prospect of going on the (rather smaller) boards again. But the opening doesn't come off this time because (in short) ' Dunberry's a very English little town, and there's some commercial trouble-snobs and licences'.
